  1. OK! I don't like Calico's idea of getting rid of the Eagle required MB's. If this is done, one boy could choose 21 of the easiest MB's while another could chose 21 of the toughest! That doesn't make for a level playing field. I do think Cooking should replace the vanilla MB Family Life as a required MB. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  2. Beavah, Bob, Ed Please don't use the forums to carry on a feud as to who said what and what they meant. Lecturing one another and arguing is hardly Scout-like and is beneath the dignity of all of you. (Bob White's response was deleted by mistake. There's no hidden message in that.) FScouter (This message has been edited by a staff member.) I didn't post this but it's under my name! I was eating pot roast & watching football!(This message has been edited by evmori)

  4. I use wine in my recipe, too! I'm busted! Take me away in cuffs & leg irons! Tie me to the whipping post & have at it! But the wine will stay in the recipe! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Deciding what books should be included in the Bible could be construed as writing it but in reality the Catholics didn't write the Bible. It was written by Jews & Gentiles. And the Catholic bible is different from the Protestant Bible. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Atheists are welcome at my church, too. They can't remain atheists and become members.
  7. Can we please get back to discussing pot roast!
  8. Bob, I'm gonna pretend this is Nightline & I am Ted Koppel. "Bob White, you didn't answer the question posed by Beavah". Back to myself now. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  9. I don't think courtesy is gone in the forums. Posters respond to others in their own way to get a point across. Some are more direct than others. That doesn't make them discourteous. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  10. I love pot roast! Got a great recipe for a slow cooker or Dutch oven pot roast with potatoes & carrots! Man am I hungry after reading all the guff posted! Good insight Its Me! And an accurate description of the posts started. What does pot roast have to do with Scouting being fun? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Wrong discussion by GW is right on the money about Catholics & divorce.
  12. I'll take the 2nd way Beav! Sounds like way more fun & the results are the same! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  13. OK that's it! For those not thinking out of the box, please put your lid back on your box so the rest of us can get on with the discussion! You know who you are & if I list your name here it will only get whacked! Back to Blue Sky! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Ed: explain how that word is not thought of as a vulgar or a curse? I have never seen or heard it used as anything but an insult. When it is true. That doesn't make the use of the word correct, just not vulgar & it has never been a curse word. Would I call my mother that? Nope. Why? Because it isn't true of her. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 (This message has been edited by evmori)
  15. So then the only need you see for having adults is to satisfy the charter requirements. Interesting. Not what I said. Based on the way the units are chartered, no adults = no unit. And if there is no unit then there is no one to be in charge of so no need for an SPL! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  16. John, This is Blue Sky! Your council is picking up the gas tab!
  17. Almost everything could be on-line. Ordering supplies & awards & other stuff the current Scout shops carry could be done on-line & delivered to a unit leaders house or the COR. Summer camp reservations & other necessities could be done on-line. Tour permits on-line. This would take time to set up but once it is done, maintaining the on-line stuff is easy. Maybe smaller councils is the way to go instead of larger. Bigger isn't always better. Oh! One more Blue Sky thing - a new Hummer for all SM's! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  18. If he is supposed to be POR for 6 months and he showed up only half the time does he get full credit for fulfilling his responsibility? Has the Scout fulfilled the POR to the SM's expectations? But if the SM does not lay out the expectations for the POR when the Scout is elected/appointed, how can the SM expect the Scout to know what to do? He can't. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. What would happen to a troop or pack if they were no adults Beavah? If I may, Beavah. To charter a unit you need at least five adults to sign on as leaders. So if there are no adults, no unit. Thanks Beavah! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. When were we tricked? I musta missed that! Oh well! We don't use knots & lashings as much now as we did. But I still feel it is a skill worth learning. You never know when they might come in handy! I think learning from the past is a good thing. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  21. Gotta agree with Bob on this. We should be setting good examples. I am not offended by the post that offended FireKat (I remember that skit on SNL it was a hoot) but that doesn't make it right. Then again, the word I think that offended FireKat isn't vulgar or a curse word and therefore should not be censored. Remember Fahrenheit 451? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Who cares if Pappy gives his name & location? Heck, I'll give you mine!
  23. GW is correct that two adults must be present on all outing. While this might be smart for all Scouting functions, it isn't required for anything except trips and outings per the G2SS. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  24. Mastering a skill builds confidence. This could lead to building character but not necessarily.
  25. Yup hops. By county. Small rural counties could be combined, but larger counties would be stand alones.
