  1. Change! My grandfather put that light bulb in!
  2. I just noticed this is 7 months old! Did you just complain about this now Merlyn? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. So now who is going to conduct the soccer clinic? Nowhere does it state that the participants of clinic must become BSA members to participate. It seems all boys & girls were welcome to participate in the clinic. Was this deliberate fraud on the part of the BSA? No. It seems the BSA just wanted to help out kids & now they can't. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. I cut down trees I skip and jump I love to press wild flow'rs I put on women's clothing And hang around in bars I cut down trees, I wear high heels Suspenders and a bra I wish I'd been a girlie Just like my dear papa
  5. When you do what you say & say what you do.
  6. I gotta tell ya, these copy & paste posts are getting old. There was a poster on here before show had a similar style but was more aggressive than Pappy. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  7. Boy this stuff sure sounds a lot like our old pal brianbuff who thought cool duds & snappy catch phrases was the answer! Maybe the answer is to support what the BSA stands for instead of trying to change it. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  8. Why not just pull the ASM aside & tell him to stop it or charges will be filed! Bet that ends the problem.
  9. With our fund raisers, the Scouts would get 90% & the Troop gets 10%. This is used for equipment & stuff like that. The annual registration fee covers Nationals fee, insurance, MB's, rank patches & other program materials. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  10. It is possible for a Scout to complete all the requirements for T to 1st at the same time. And the Scout might be the one who wants a BOR for all three at once. As far as I know, there is nothing that states all three BOR's can't be on the same date. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  11. But should the new requirements be requirements? They are about bullying & the like. Shouldn't this be taught at home? To me, these are the CYA type of requirements for the BSA. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Any indoor climbing walls in your area? Laser tag? How about an old fashion board game?(This message has been edited by evmori)
  13. No. If you drop the values the BSA has then all you have is another youth organization just like a million others! And this idea seems to be totally contradictory of your previous ramblings, Pappy. Are we being set up? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Silent Auctions are games of chance & not allowed by the BSA.
  15. That's your Swiss bank account number where they deposit your paychecks! If ya loss it, yer outta luck!
  16. WOW Barry! My son is deaf & had just the opposite experience with a district level EBOR. I was the SM at the time so my ASM took my son & sat in his EBOR to watch. I was told by him & the EBOR later that this was one of the most memorable EBOR's they had sat on. They said in the beginning my son was so nervous he was hyperventilating! One they calmed him down, he was fine! And the ASM that was there only had to clear up a couple things the EBOR couldn't understand that my son told them. It sounds like the problem was with the 91 year old chairman more than the district. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. There is a child behavior specialist present at all YPT sessions? That's news to me. And in the real world, when kids does walk into a door, he probably won't tell ya he walked into a door! I know when I was a kids I would make up a cool story to tell my buds!
  18. If ya don't ask you won't know & you will be making a judgment based on minimal knowledge. If more is known, a better judgment can be made. And to learn more, questions will probably need to be asked. Hence, investigating. How a boy deals with an injury will depend a lot on how it occurred. If he fell down the steps & broke his arm, it is doubtful he will tell his mate exactly what happened. He might make something up to make it sound cooler to his buds so he doesn't look like a dolt in his friends eyes. That could be worse than the injury itself! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. Sitting on an EBOR is a great experience. I have sat on many & have enjoyed each & every one. They are all different and they are all the same. One of my favorite moments was when we convened the EBOR, the Scout was asked to lead the Pledge, Scout Oath & Scout Law. The Scout got all confused, started with the Pledge, about 1/2 way through recited a part of the Law then stopped and said "Crap" & sat down. The three of us on the EBOR sat down & the chair told the Scout, "It's OK. We aren't going to hurt you. Take a minute, calm down & start again". The Scout did, and from that point, he was excellent! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. I have a theory about what happened to courtesy with kids. Here goes .................. Kids today lack the social skills to be courteous. They spend too much time playing video games and chatting on line when they should be out & about. The lack of physical human interaction is, in my opinion, a big part of the problem. The root of the problem is parents doing nothing about this & letting their kids be discourteous instead of placing them in situations where they can hone their skills. They would rather shield little Johnny from anything that would make him uncomfortable instead of letting him experience and learn from those type of situations. I'm done now! Thanks Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  21. On the original question, I agree with FireKat - NEVER. Not sure there is a BSA policy that deals with this? Bob White you seem to be the BSA policy expert, is there a BSA policy that deals with EO2(SCW)Ploense's original post? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Since the BSA is a private organization, they can decide who can become a member. Don't know that legal or illegal comes into play? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  23. How would I have handled it? When I was a SM and a Scout was working on his Eagle project, my role was one of adviser & helper. I would tell the Scout I would review his project & offer critique & would be available to help with his project in any way he needed. But 1st, I would advise the Scout it was HIS project, not mine or his parents. If he needed my assistance all he had to do was ask. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
