Just got off the phone with a person from the city of Santa Maria! The reason the BSA pulled out of the HUD grant was because they couldn't supply the necessary expense documentation required by HUD. This person at the city of Santa Maria was did not know if the participants were required to subscribe to the DRP or become BSA members! And the BSA did put on the clinic! Had 97 participants which were mostly underprivileged kids! The person from the city of Santa Maria didn't know how it was funded, but they were exceptionally please with the results. So it seems the kids did win out in the end! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

If the shirt is too expensive, maybe we could cut the price to $10 and raise the annual registration to $20. What's the diff? Now that's a poor attitude! Why should people who are already giving their time & talent be forced to pay outlandish prices for uniforms? Yeah I know you can get used ones but not everyone has that option. Well, Merlyn, your way of find out seems to have pulled the plug on something that could have been a great benefit to kids. Sounds like the same thing that happened to Chi Chi's restaurant. People were getting sick & the media, without any facts, blamed it on employees not washing their hands. The real reason was a batch of bad onions but they had to shut their doors because no one was eating there due to the initial incorrect media reports. Who said anything about the participants earning anything? Do they? Did you bother to find out? Attacking something without all the facts is a gross miscarriage of justice and totally irresponsible & exceptionally self centered. Nice job Merlyn. Do we know for sure the kids that participated in this clinic were required to join the BSA or subscribe to the BSA DRP to participate in the clinic? No we don't. And without knowing that, any action taken is wrong. Merlyn, do you have indisputable proof the kids participating in this clinic had to either join the BSA or subscribe to the BSA DRP to participate? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
