Well, looks like I'm the only one getting edited! How about removing Merlyn's personal attack, too, FScouter. I know you will remove this! -

And you don't get to decide for me either, Merlyn even though you want to. You're correct pack. Those programs might not end. But considering how governments work, they won't pick it up due to cost & no other private organization will take it on because they don't want to end up in court because they offended someone who doesn't use the services. Great points skeptic. You aren't a member of the BSA, Merlyn, so the BSA DRP has no effect on you. Sorta like the laws that govern the city I live in don't effect you in your city. All this does is eliminate programs to youth who need them. I thank you for those youth. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

The BSA is not responsible. And as a Scouter to say so is just wrong. Is the BSA responsible for stopping these programs? Nope. In this case it is Lambada. Why? Because Lambada members are discriminated against by the BSA. Now, does this directly effect the programs the BSA is running in conjunction with LA? I seriously doubt it. It seems the Dale case is creating a bigger vacuum for our youth to fall into. When we look back years later & ask what happened, it will be very obvious. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

The ACLU is ticked, Calico, that it lost the Dale case and will do everything in it's power to ruin the BSA. The ones who suffer are the kids because the BSA runs programs for cities & counties & states that are open to all but now they can't because the few want to decide what is best for the masses. The bottom line is the kids suffer. Ya think LA will pick up the slack? I doubt it and neither will anyone else! So the end result is kids are without a useful program & the gang population of LA will now probably increase. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

LA should follow it's codes, Merlyn. It seems there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the relationship between LA & LFL. And I'm wondering how Lambada is hurt by this relationship. Are gays & lesbians unable to participate in the programs LFL has? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

No lawsuit yet, but the threat of one looms. Like I said, the only ones who suffer are the kids. -

It really make no difference! The ones who lose is the kids. And ya can spout all ya want about another group picking up the slack, but it won't happen. Wanna know why? Lawsuits like these. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

The $$$ savings would be minimal and there would be youth who lose yet another probram because the few want to control the many. -

Good points, OGE, but it is all for naught. The few shall decide the rights of the many. -

DanKroh, I know that! Are their rights different than ours? Do we know the LA Council has no gays or atheists working for them? They probably don't but do we know they actively discriminate in their employment practices? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

Well whoop de do! Wonder how many Lambada members are atheists! -
Yep GW I agree. Not everyone has what it takes to be on the varsity football team or be an Eagle Scout. Yet mom & dad want it because "it looks good on a college and job resume." Wonder how good it would look if when their little Johnny was interviewed for a college scholarship or job in the real world if when the interviewer found out little Johnny didn't have a clue so he didn't get the scholarship or job? Rejoining scouts to attain eagle I think I can do you?
evmori replied to daviedds's topic in Advancement Resources
You don't need to be elected to a POR for Star and Life. Instead you can carry out a Scoutmaster-assigned leadership project to help the troop. You will need a POR for Eagle, though. You can do it, but it will be a push & require a lot of work on your part. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
Damage done by untrained leaders? You know this for a fact? Could it be possible that most of these untrained leaders are just new leaders who haven't been to training yet? And if there is such a concern for the damage done by untrained leaders, why isn't training mandatory? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I always find it amusing, and very presumptuous, when persons of one one religion or no religion trying telling us what persons of another faith believe in. I think OGE was on the money. When it comes to driving do you ingore the Rules of the Road or the owners manual for your car? When you need to know how to program a remote control to you ignore the instructions? When you are given a food dish to make do you ignore the recipe before you learn how to make the dish? Before you played a board game did you not take time to learn how it is played? There are instructions for many of the the things we do in order to insure the correct results. Scouting is no different. How do you know when its all together if you never learn what "all together" is? If you put as much energy as some evidently do to NOT follow the program, then how can they ever expect to get the results that the program can get? I love it when we compare stuff! Especially stuff that really can't be compared. Some people love to do that all the time! Makes for interesting reading but really has no practical application. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

If you shelled out the registration fee, you are as official as you can get. Wearing your uniform to meetings will help to support the Scouts wearing the uniform. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

The Troop Committee supports & evaluates the Troop program. While you can make suggestions, you shouldn't be "running" the SM. It sounds like maybe the SM has too much on his plate & should consider stepping down since it doesn't seem (from your posts) he has the time to devote to the Troop. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Boy this is gonna rip a huge hole in the universe or cause the toilet to flush in the opposite direction. You might want to put a Hazmat suit on or head to the CD shelter! I completely agree with Bob's last post! If this boy truly wants to be the SPL, it's decision time. He must decide to dedicate the time to the Troop instead of his other activities. When most of us are on the hotseat, we tend to give the answers the questioner wants to hear. And I'm not sure there is anything wrong with that as long as the answer is honest. Asking questions at a BOR about scuttlebutt is out of line, though. Scuttlebutt is nothing more than rumor & innuendo & has no place at a BOR. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Thanks scottteng. Now that begs a question Padilan - If you are currently a PL, why did you run for QM? Something doesn't make sense. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
