Sorry but I'm not that altruistic. $2 isn't worth three hours of my time or should I say, three hours of my time isn't worth two dollars. But ya save pennies on lighting?

GW, That was excellent! The only thing you forgot was when you got hurt, ya rubed some dirt on it & you were OK! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

GW, Did ya ever watch Myth Busters? They did a show on exactly this & found if you are going to be out of a room for longer than 2 minutes, turn the lights off regardless of what kind. Leaving them on cost more than turning them on again. And again, you big savings come from your cost efficient large appliances, not lighting. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

To trust anyone whose skills, backgrounds, methods, personalities, and abilities are unknown is dangerous and naive. To trust them with your children is irresponsible. Trust has to have some foundation of credibility. Yep trust should have credibility. But making a blanket statement that you don't trust an adult leader to do their best is more of a reflection of the person making the statement than anything. Do we trust our kids to do the right thing? I know I do. Do they always? Nope. But they need to be given the chance. No one is saying to let a couple of adult leaders you have never met take the Scouts in your unit across country. Trust them with something in the unit & see how they handle it. A Scout is trustworthy & if we as adults don't help model that, how are the Scouts in our units going to learn it. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Not to me packsaddle.

I'm still not sold on this global warming stuff. I do try to save energy but only for selfish reasons, expenses. The big energy suckers are the HVAC and large appliances in your home. The more efficient these are, the lower you utility bills. Plus, upgraded doors & windows help a lot. Energy efficient lighting will top this off but by itself will not make a major impact on your electric bills. The best thing to do about lighting is ti remember to turn off the light & when you leave the room. The old theory that it takes more electricity to turn on a light than leave it on is a myth. Get sensors that turn lights on when you enter a room & turns them off when you leave. And be careful with fluorescent lighting. This type of lighting will interfere with audio signals in your home. I think most of us try to do our best. I also think there are those adults who sign up who have no intention of attending any training & just doing it their way, but I believe these are in the minority. Yeah we here a lot about units who are so far off you would think they were Girl Scouts but not about the ones who are right on the money. Why? Because the ones who are out in left field are the ones who make headlines! If you don't trust that other Scouters are trying their best then maybe the problem is not with the other Scouters. Better get the extra heavy duty thread out! For the 2nd time in a week, I agree with Bob White! Was that an iceberg that just passed? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

AOL is not a Boy Scout advancement. It belongs in Cub Scouts.

Then please by all means, take him back as your mayor of Philly so he leaves the rest of the state alone! -
What would you think of an Eagle never getting a COH?
evmori replied to Joni4TA's topic in Advancement Resources
Calico is right on the money! That Eagle deserves his medal. That should be handled ASAP if not sooner! I just got up off the floor packsaddle! -
On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Looks like God to me.

" If you get caught, it really makes no difference." Since there seem to be no penalties, what does it matter? What does it matter? You have to be kidding! Little Johnny goes home & tells mom that Scoutmaster Frank brought beer on the camping trip! I can't believe it! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Yeah the G2SS does limit your options in this case. I don't think splitting hairs over beer being used as an ingredient in a recipe versus as a beverage is wise. If you get caught, it really makes no difference. Too, bad! I've had this recipe & it is really good! Adding fruit juice is just wrong! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

What do you think of a Eagle board of review that dares to ask the scout if he believes in a god? It's God not god. I have sat on many EBOR's & this question is asked all the time. Isn't that a violation of separation of church and state? That has no application in Scouting. Are they allowed to ask such questions? Belief in God is required for membership, so the answer is yes. I can understand questions about scouting stuff, but about a belief in a god is going a bit far, don't you think? Again, it's God not god. No it isn't. Can your son see the wind? Does he believe it exists? Yep we Scout people is kind but we is also practical. Don't construe someone questioning your motive as not being kind. They are just wondering if this is true or not. I refuse to listen to anything by Fast Eddie the Thug. The man is 100% politician & will tell you anything you want to hear just to get your vote! The man is useless! -
The sad part is we will continue to pay a high price for uniforms awhile the BSA has a larger profit margin. It would be the right thing to do to pass the savings down to the volunteers but since this is big business, I doubt we will see this happen. A little story. The wife & I were shopping for Easter dinner stuff yesterday at Giant Eagle (local food chain). We picked out a leg of lams & were talking to one of the butchers about the best way to prepare it. While he was telling us he notice the price on the leg of lamb was $0.20/pound higher than it should be. He went & repriced it for us! Now that's keeping the customer 1st! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
