  1. Thanks OGE! Temporary disability comes to mind. Work & School schedule that allows for limited time for exercise. A generally active youth that just doesn't like to practice these things. A temporary disability could last for years!(This message has been edited by evmori)
  2. I own a Pittsburgh Steeler replica jersey. I can wear it anywhere I please! And I'm not a member of the Steeler organization. Anyone can buy an official BSA shirt and wear it anywhere! Gay pride rally, KKK cross burning, PETA rally! Show me chapter & verse where it says it can't. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Heck, a non-BSA member can purchase a BSA shirt from a Scout Shop! And they can wear it to a KKK rally is they so please! Once I buy it, it's mine! I can wear it where ever and when ever I please! The BSA can try all they want to stop me but they won't have a leg to stand on!
  4. OK so I buy an Adult Leader shirt. It has "Boy Scouts of America" above the right pocket. I put nothing else on it. Am I to understand I need permission to wear this shirt I just purchased for around $40? I don't think so.
  5. The suggestion that excercising once a month is a responsible way to meet the requirements is silly in concept, and inane if endorsed by the adult leadership. Interesting perspective. Maybe exercising once a month is all the Scout can do. And if the Scout is doing his best, shouldn't we endorse that? Sure we should encourage the Scout to do more but if he can't, for whatever reason, he can't! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. A 12 year old is a kid!
  7. (b) Unit Obligations. In the event of the dissolution of a unit or the revocation or lapse of its charter, the unit committee shall apply unit funds and property to the payment of unit obligations and shall turn over the surplus, if any, to the local council, if there is one, or if there is no local council, dispose of the same in accordance with the direction of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America. In the case of a chartered organization, any funds or equipment which may have been secured as property of the unit shall be held in trust by the chartering organizaiton or the chartered local council, as may be agreed upon, pending reorganization of the unit or for the promotion of the program of the Boy Scouts of America. Well, it states to turn it over to the council then it states the CO can holds the funds in trust! Well, duh!
  8. Actually (cover your eyes as to not be blinded by the seering light) I agree with Bob on this. Regularly could be once a week, month, hour, day, year, etc. There is nothing in the requirement that specifies a certain frequency. Regularly is what ever is regular to you. Amazing, huh! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  9. "I hunted through and couldn't find anything. Do you have a specific reference?" That's the point. Double-up positions is not BSA supported. They can't help much with home-brew. How does not finding anything translate to not supported? There is nothing about adults holding multiple positions yet it happens all the time! Not sure I see the correlation. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  10. " If the unit is owned by the CO all assets of the unit are property of the CO then any funds being raised by the unit for it's own use are in actuality being raised for the CO which under item 7 of the money earning application is considered a third party. " I think that this is open to interpretation. If a unit folds, the unit's assets do not revert to the CO, if the CO has no plans to start a new unit in short order, the assets go to council. No interpretation necessary. If a unit folds, all unit gear & funds revert to the CO. The CO can do what they want with it then. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

    your thoughts?

My first question is "Why?" Makes no difference. If an adult wants to work with Cubs & Boy Scouts, good for them! But why has nothing to do with this thread! Start a new one!
  12. Didn't know having a patch for a position equaled being registered?
  13. There is a right way to eat in polite company which isn't taught much anymore. Depends on your definition of polite. There is a right way to behave in church. Depends on your denomination. There is a right way to dress for a funeral. Depends on who died. There is a right way to wear a uniform, any uniform be it Army, Navy, baseball, basketball, or BSA. Depends on the occasion and/or reason for being in uniform. How's that Beav? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Sounds to me like the Council Executive Board may approve a unit to wear the uniform regardless of what the fund raiser is.
  15. OGE, If my memory serves me correctly, Webelos use to attend camporees & participate. They would compete against other Webelos dens, not Boy Scouts. To me, this was a great selling point for Troops. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  16. It never "changed" ed. The character of a matter does not change when one discovers the truth. Rather, one becomes enlighted. It is my understanding it has "changed". If it hasn't, why can Webelos no longer participate in Boy Scout camporees? Enlighten me, please! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. If you submit your fund raising application & it's approved, I think you are allowed to wear your Class A's.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  18. This requirement in no way should be a stumbling block. Remember it says show improvement. Now improvement could be one more pull up, one pull up done faster, one pull up done with better form, etc. The requirement states to practice these skills for 30 days. Now does that mean everyday for 30 days? Or does that mean from the time of the initial recording, does the Scout have 30 days to practice and improve his skills but not necessarily practice them each & every day.? I would argue the latter. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

    your thoughts?

Don't think you need a thing. Just list her on your charter as a leader when you recharter.
  20. Webelos use to be able to camp with Troops at camporees! I always felt this was great for the Troops & good for the Webelos. Never understood why this was changed!
  21. It is impossible to provide "back up" for what does not exist. Do you mean there is nothing in any BSA material that states what you stated, FScouter?
  22. Since BSA does not endorse holding two positions of responsibility at the same time, I doubt that the purpose of the cord is to enable the uniform to show the den chief position simultaneous with a different position. There isn't any indication that a den chief should choose one or the other. FScouter has stated (more than once) he believes the BSA doesn't endorse a Scout holding two POR's at the same time. I don't believe I have ever heard or read anything that backs this up. Has anyone else? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  23. There we go again with the sports analogies! Shirts must be tucked in. It's a rule! There are tons of rules regarding uniforms in sports. Some are silly! Some aren't! And uniforms in sports are required. Uniforms in Scouting aren't. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
