  1. Bob, If an Eagle Service project is "outside the sphere of Scouting" then a Unit Money Earning form isn't necessary. And if the form isn't necessary, then the rules & regs that guide the form don't apply. And the quote from clause 6 states the primary use of the uniforms, not the only use. Primary doesn't equal only. That's your interpretation. As stated in the Boy Scout Handbook: While a Life Scout, plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to your religious institution, school, or your community. (The project should benefit an organization other than the BSA.) The project plan must be approved by the organization benefiting from the effort, your unit leader (Scoutmaster, Varsity Scout Coach, Venturing crew Advisor), unit committee, and by the council or district advancement committee before you start. You must use the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook, No. 18-927E, or this online equivalent, in meeting this requirement. Even though the project is done for an organization other than the BSA, that doesn't mean the project is outside the sphere of Scouting. To be an Eagle Service project, the one completing it MUST be a Scout! The person on the front of the workbook is in uniform! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. The references Bob posted were from the Unit Money Earning form which doesn't apply to an Eagle Project and Clause 6 from the BSA uniform Regulations which describes the primary use of the uniform. In seems in Bob's minds he is equating primary with only. He has yet to post anything that states a Scout is not allowed or allowed to wear his uniform when leading an Eagle Project. Maybe because it just plain doesn't exist. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Sorry for the confusion OGE. The #6 I posted & #7 Bob posted are from the Unit Money Earning form. Since an Eagle projects isn't required to complete the form, neither are applicable. I posted #6 in response to Bob's post about when a Scout is permitted to wear his uniform for fund raising purposes, not about if the uniform can be worn during an Eagle project. Bob then posted #7 in response and linked it to the Eagle project question which in fact it has nothing to do with! Nothing has been posted that states a Scout can or can't wear his uniform during an Eagle project. What I take from the lack of guidance in this instance is it is up to the Scout. He can if he wants to but is by no means doing anything wrong if he does. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. I read the entire thing. I only posted what I felt was relevant. Primarily doesn't equal always. An Eagle project doesn't require a Unit Money Earning form. And the way I read it, the rules Bob & I have posted are in connection with the Unit Money Earning form. So we still have nothing that says "A Scout is not allowed to wear his uniform while leading an Eagle Service Project. And I doubt one exists. It seems to be the interpretation of some posters who think it is a BSA rule or reg. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  5. Good points FScouter. I took particular note to the way I dressed for work this morning. Underwear Shirt Pants Belt Left Sock Left Shoe Right Sock Right Shoe iPod on belt Junk in pockets The sock shoe method I attribute to the same All in the Family episode acco referenced. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Well there goes the pop Maybe this topic will have to drop Ya thought they were right But not according to Bob White Ya got zapped by the limerick cop
  7. Well, according to the Unit Money Earning Application 6. If a commercial product is to be sold, will the fund-raising activity comply with BSA policy on wearing the uniform? The official uniform is intended to be worn primarily for use in connection with Scouting activities. However, council executive boards may approve use of the uniform for any fund-raising activity. it states any fund-raising activity. I don't see anything about National approval. Could it be your interpretation? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  8. I never wrote a limerick Do you write it quick? Can it be written when you are sick? Man this is slick!
  9. Actually, if the Council Executive Committee approves the unit to wear their uniforms while fund raising, then it is permitted. So when the Scout-not-in-uniform heads down to the local Home Depot & talks to the manager about donating or discounting materials he will need for his Eagle project ya don't think the manager will associate the project with the BSA? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 (This message has been edited by a staff member.) Who edited out my question & why?(This message has been edited by evmori)
  10. Ditto to what Hunt posted! If someone has chapter & verse that states the BSA uniform is not to be worn during an Eagle project, please post it. I doubt if this exists. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

  12. Maybe we should give adults time outs or make them sit in the corner!
  13. This will get whacked! The initial post in this thread was a statement about one Scouters view of Wood Badge & Basic Training. Nothing more. Nothing less!
  14. John I read the thread that Margaret began, and for as badly as many posters treated her those same posters treat guys like fscouter and me just as badly if not worse much of the time. Margaret left and some people feel badly about their behavior. I would be curious if they would feel as bad about their behavior if she had stayed? Is it their behavior they regret or Margaret's reaction that bothers them? This part of the post had no business in the thread it was in & does need to be addressed. Did we as a group treat Margaret poorly? Yes we did. Do we treat Bob & FScouter just as poorly? At times, yes. And to Bob & FScouter reciprocate? Every chance they get. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Webelos not allowed to participate against other Webelos at a Boy Scout camporee.
  16. Bob, The project is done for an organization outside the sphere of Scouting. The forms, approval process & requirements are all within the sphere of Scouting. To say an Eagle Project is outside the sphere of Scouting is misleading and wrong. What sphere does it belong? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. I wonder how I make money on this talent? The same way you do in Scouting OGE!
  18. Wait a minute! Didn't your initial post refer to recruiting not being taught at Wood Badge? And I think we all agreed it isn't nor ever was. And John brought up the point of the interchange of ideas with other Scouters was worth it's weight in gold and I tend to agree! I would not have meet most of those people if I never attended Wood Badge! And the exchange of ideas is just as important as what was taught! So the initial post was more of a statement than a discussion topic! Got it now! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. I got it the 1st time, John. I took the "old" course. Loved it! Learned tons! Made me a better Scouter! Didn't learn a stitch about recruiting nor was it ever discussed in the course. But it was discussed among the members of my patrol & the other participants of the course. Everyone picked up some great ideas for recruitment & also some things not to do when recruiting. Is that what this thread is about? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. If the requirement says "complete with your Den" that's what it means. If it isn't done, it isn't done! And the short answer is yes.
  21. Well, it's primary day here! Time to exercise my right to vote! I'm a registered democrat & I'm not voting for Mrs. Clinton. And if you ask, I'll tell you the same thing! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Three years to complete a 30 day requirement? Something is wrong with this!
