  1. Now this is getting absurd! It's come down to what level of Scouting? Get serious! Ask your DE in your district, Bob. Ask you Council exec! Ask someone at National! We know one professional that says it's a Scouting activity. I guess all you espoused before about trusting the professional was just, well, talk! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. Ya missed my point Bob. Your post What kind of a scouting activity? There are only a few kinds. We've ruled out unit. That leaves a national activity, but that cannot be right since National learns about it after it has been done. Regional? That can't be because region is never informed about projects. Council? Are you suggesting that the service project is a Council Activity? Those are the only types of Scouting activities that exist. So if indeed the Eagle Project is a scouting activity then which type of scouting activity is it? claims Those are the only types of Scouting activities that exist. Since that isn't true, why should we believe you regarding ELSP? A 20+year professional has told one of the posters here that a ELSP is a Scouting activity! You have always held the professional with high esteem! One would think you would take there word. Are you questioning a professional Scouter Bob? Isn't that something you claim one could be kicked out of Scouting for? An ELSP is a Scouting activity. Plain & simple. If you are not a member of the BSA you can't earn Eagle! And the ELSP is a step in earning Eagle. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

OA Weekends are Scouting activities! Eagle projects are Scouting activities! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. We agree an ELSP is not a unit project. We also agree it must be done for an organization outside the sphere of Scouting. What we are having trouble with is a Scout wearing his uniform while leading a ELSP. Now, someone posted they discussed this with a 20+year professional & they claim this professional told them that an ELSP is a Scouting activity wearing the uniform is OK. I tend to agree with the professional. After all, they are the ones who should know, aren't they? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. 100 pages? For what reason? Do they actually read all of these? And if they do, they need a life! Talk about adding to the requirements!
  6. OGE, I'd love it if someone else would chime in! Merlyn, And because they are "state agents acting in their official capacity" means they can't pray? Isn't that a direct violation of the 1st Amendment - freedom of speech & religion?
  7. Merlyn, Maybe because the teacher lounge is on the other side of the building & there isn't time. Why should they have to?
  8. But they can't have a silent prayer in their classroom between classes?
  9. A teacher isn't allowed to say a silent prayer before the start of class? What happened to the freedom of religion?
  10. I need to be more specific? OK. A teacher bows his/her head before the start of a class. Student asks "What are you doing?" Teacher answers "Praying."
  11. Then what is you big problem with prayer in public schools Merlyn?
  12. Ed writes: Allowing prayer in public schools doesn't establish a religion. Correct Ed, but I haven't seen anyone state that kids can't pray in school, so is this just another random comment on your part? I was talking about anyone in a public school. Teachers, janitors, administrative staff, bus drivers, students, security.
  13. Allowing prayer in public schools doesn't establish a religion.
  14. Always great to hear stories like this! Gives one hope!(This message has been edited by evmori)

  17. No I don't see the problem with either question. Is there a problem with either question?
  18. Call you district and council. Advise them of what happened.

  20. I guess it would depend on the context of the question, Gern. But actually, no I don't. What's the difference in asking that question or asking "Tell the class what nationality your are, Billy."?
  21. Why can't a teacher ask a student if they are saved or are they going to hell? How does that violate the 1st Amendment?
