Could someone please reference the requirement to worship? I understand the Duty to God and Reverent. But neither require worship. Some faiths do, and I understand that, but in the realm of BSA requirements, where does it state you must worship the higher being? You are correct Gern. There is no requirement to worship. Some feel this is how one shows reverence but there are many other ways and worship is just one of them (to me one of the most important). Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Yep GW! Took many a kid to the emergency room for many a thing just armed with their medical form & a parent signed permission slip. Never had a problem! If a Scout came to me complaining of stomach pain I would take him to the camp doctor. Again, common sense! I would never give a Scout any OTC meds unless I had cleared it with the parents 1st. Maybe we here in the East just let the Scouts do more without getting all skittish about what might happen. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Ed - you do realize that sometimes, when somebody gets sued, its because they actually did something they weren't supposed to? Not always dScouter15. A lot of times people get sued because someone did something stupid & they want someone else to be responsible for their stupidity or because they just want someone to blame. Remember the lady who sued McDonald's because she went to the drive thru, got a coffee & decided to hold it between her legs & it spilled & she was burned? Yeah that was McDonald's fault! I doubt that fear plays any role in this. More likely the biggest factor is that most adults realize that it would be irresponsible to practice medicine beyond the limits of their formal training. I think fear is the biggest factor - fear of being sued! Bringing internal medications to distribute to someone else's child without formal medical training in the storage, administration and potential dangers of each drug is irresponsible and dangerous. Your opinion. If the medication is given according to the prescription and stored in a secure place, the risk is virtually non-existent. Doctors are not qualified to be scout leaders simply because they are doctors, and scout leaders are not qualified to be doctors siomply because they are scout leaders. I better get on the phone right now & tell all the doctors I know who are Scout leader they aren't qualified to be Scout leaders! And visa versa! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

What's the rush? Why do we need to "fast track" advancement?

The only time meds were an issue for us was at summer camp. One of our ASM's would tell all the parents at the pre-camp meeting he would collect & store all the Scouts meds. He would also make sure they took them as the prescription read. This worked great & we never had any trouble. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Yeah Nessmuk's response was a little rough but made a great point! Nothing wrong with the question asked, though. There are probably thousands of things like this that come up all the time! I think you are probably correct about the e-mail settings causing the problem with Bob's PM's Troy. I think the idea is good, but think the distribution would be limited. Reasons are there are not that many that earn all the MB's and getting the word out. If you get the blessing of the BSA, you might be able to get them to link your site to there's! Good luck! Nessmuk made a great point. Common sense & good planning should be the staple. The G2SS is reference material, nothing more.

You're gonna get sued by someone no matter what you do so the best thing to do is what is best for the victim.

It just seems a like a mish mosh if a couple Webelos are in the Cub blues & a few are in the Boy Scout shirts. Not very uniform to me. When I was a Cubmaster, all the Webelos dens went to the Boy Scout shirts. The kids likes them & it gave them a sense of accomplishment. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

If medication is administered per the dosage on the container, a whole country of lawyers don't make a bit of difference! And administering medication such as an epi-pen in an emergency situation is the correct thing to do!!

John, Why should the Pack underwrite the cost? Did they underwrite the cost when you joined? The reason I say Pack decision vs parent decision is for uniformity sake. And if you know going into the Pack that when little Johnny becomes a 2nd year Webelos he will need a new uniform then it can be planned for. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
