  1. 2010 will be my 8th Jamboree. As parents you need to determine if your boys are mature enough to attend the Jamboree. Their performance at Summer Camp and troop campouts will give you a clue to their maturity. I've always served on the Staff of the Merit Badge Midway and feel that 12 years old is too young for some scouts. My suggestion is to sign up as a Jamboree staffer. I'm organizing the Electricity and Electronics Merit Badge Booths and need 250 volunteers with skills to instruct these merit badges. You can check out our efforts at www.emeritbadges.org. If you are interested in volunteering please contact me at emeritbadges@ieee.org.
  2. Check our IEEE emeritbadges.org website at www.emeritbadges.org. We have had over 2 million hits. Our mission is to provide a global non-discriminatory pre-college technology education program for boys and girls. Our program is based on the BSA Electricity and Electronics Merit Badge Pamphlets. We have developed a program to teach these two merit badges. Instructional material is posted on the website. We also have a kit for sale for the electronics merit badge. We have been the coordinators of either the Electricitiy and/or the Electronics Merit Badge at each National Scout Jamboree since 1981. We also have many Jamboree photos.
  3. I'm the Project Manager for the IEEE emeribadges.org Program. Our mission is to provide a global non-discriminatory pre-college technology education program for boys and girls. Check out our website at www.emeritbadges.org. We were the reviewers for the new Electricity and the Computer Merit Badge Pamphlets. We have developed instructional material for the Electricity and the Electronics Merit Badges. For Electronics, a kit has been developed. We have been the sponsors for either the Electricity or Electronics Merit Badge Booths at each National Scout Jamboree since 1981.
  4. Stephen is not a name that I recognize but I'm sure there are plenty of staff people for the merit badge midway. Are you sure you are doing the Art Merit Badge and not involved with the Arts & Science Displays? Typically corporations, professional societies and the military sponsor the merit badge booths. For Electronics I have over 100 volunteers.
  5. I know for sure that the Electronics Merit Badge will be taught at the Jamboree. Check out our website www.emeritbadges.org for the instructional material, photos, Jamboree weather and directions.
  6. This will be my seventh Jamboree and have always managed a booth at the Merit Badge Midway. Check out our website www.emeritbadges.org for photos, instructional material for the Electricity and Electronics Merit Badges, Jamboree Weather and Jamboree Directions. The Midway is on the East End of the Public Parking Area and it is open to viewing by the general public. To the best of my knowledge since 1981, the Midway has only be open for registered scouters to work on the merit badgess. This year I will be managing the Electronics Merit Badge Booth. Look for the pink flamingoes at each corner of our 1,400 sq. ft. booth.
  7. Who contacted you from National? What merit badge are you sponsoring? If you are at the midway, there is electricity. In the past we have been able to drive to the midway booths to drop off supplies prior to the Jamboree and then traffic is restricted during the Jamboree.
  8. I'm the Project Manager for the IEEE Electronics Merit Badge Booth at the Merit Badge Midway. There is one person that is the coordinator for each merit badge booth. That person is the one and only person that communicates with the BSA in Texas. Are you the booth coordinator? If you are the booth coordinator and have not heard from anyone, call the the BSA National Office in Irving, TX and ask for the Merit Badge Midway Office.
