  1. When you're doing the simulation you have to remember that the person on the left side of each table is the chairperson. They need to have a strong connection to their positon (career wise). I also found that some people don't work on any commitee. BTW, does anyone know where they got the pictures for the community members that you draft? They're too small to be sure, but one looks like my SE.
  2. Has anyone's lodge ever made their own elections video? Do you think its a feasible idea that would help give a "local" perspective of your specific lodge?
  3. I really think the easiest solution for all parties is to sell the building to CoL. The city won't miss it as they have not used it for their purposes for quite a while.
  4. I'm a junior in college, majoring in public relations and double minoring in sociology and advertising. I explained to my adviser that I want to work in the non-profit sector, specifically the BSA and he inquired why I wanted to reside in a cardboard box. I didn't think there were that many other students/professors on the boards. Cool!

  6. I was recently hired for dining hall director for a camp here in NJ. I was previously involved in the program aspect of camp so the dining hall administration is entirely new to me. I thought I might pick all your brains as I begin to brainstorm ideas with the camp director and cook.
  7. I had a few Dining Hall/Food service specific questions (as we all know that food can have a big impact on the overall experience). What make or breaks a dining hall? What unique things have you seen that made you say "hey that's really cool/nice/helpful"? What ideas do you have that would make a dining hall the talk of the off season? Most of you are much more experienced SMs and CMs and so I appreciate your wisdom and experience.
  8. good points. like always caution and parental involvement is necessary.
  9. I know not everyone here is as into social networks like facebook and myspace, but a new one just launched this month for scouts and scouters. Its and international sight started in Romania (i think). but offers great networking opportunites. here's the link: www.scoutface.com my username is utschemallsannuk
  10. it varies quite a lot by section. but usually they are tons of fun. i highly encourage you to talk to a member of your lodge as they will know more about your specific section. its something worth going to.
  11. NE2A's conclave will be in June. For the first time in anyone's memory it is not being held at a scout camp, but a military base. The National Guard will be conducting all the training cells. take a look at conclave2006.org to see what else we are doing!
  12. I am looking for some great campsongs to use at summer camp this year. What are your (or your unit's) personal favorites?
  13. what section is he (you) located in? i'm in NE-2A. Cant wait to attend NLS, i've heard its REALLY good, but I've never been asked to go till now.
  14. Is anyone here going to the NLS at Camp Alpine March 31-April 2? (that's this coming weekend)
