  1. Besides eBay, does anybody know a good place to obtain the discontinued leaders ties? I am looking for three of them. Thanks(This message has been edited by EagleScout121900)
  2. Good News! I had a conversation with our chairman (or director) last night and things have been straightened out. He is very concerned with this being his first camporee, however he is very receptive to my experienced advice. I think this event will turn out very well. Please feel free to send any helpful information you may have. EC
  3. I want to clarify that personally I think the tie and jacket should be official parts of the Scouter uniform. Also, I am not sure if the explanation I passed along about appearing like military is an official explanation. I was just simply passing along what I had heard. Maybe we should all petition to have these items become part of the official uniform. I would like to see it happen. Thanks for the info about the ties. Ec
  4. Someone in the thread mentioned the green tie that leaders used to wear with their uniforms. I thought these did look very sharp, however, the National Supply Divison no longer carries this item. I was told by my DE that these were discontinued because the BSA wanted to avoid a military type apperance. If this is the case military jackets would be inappropriate. Although I think those would look sharp also. BTW Does anyone know where I could find one or two of those old ties?
  5. A few clarifications to my original post. The chairman is a relatively new leader in Scouting who became involved with our last camporee, which was not the best executed camporee. He sort of volunteered to chair this camporee and started making plans before the committee approved him. He would not have been near the top of the committee's list; however, to avoid hurting his feelings the committee approved him. I also wanted to mention that I am serving as his vice-chair. EC
  6. I am currently serving on a District Committee. We have a chairman selected for our Fall Camporee coming up in October. He has good ideas but is severely misdirected in Camporee operation. I am looking for a way to direct him without discouraging him. Any Suggestions? Thanks
