      The County of Los Angeles has announced a 4 billion dollar settlement with 6,000 claimants for sexual abuse. BSA CSA survivors are getting the proverbial shaft.

      i am surprised your council has not disbarred the troop . in their view money for scouting goes to them not at the troop level. They are scouting not the troop. they fear that  they approach this company for funds FOS they will say we have already given. seen some bad fall out with the above. that why fund raisers other than council level need to be approved first. as use the money for dues problematic. a grant made to troop to pay scouts dues is more acceptable. the other problem i am not sure if troops can directly accept funds because they are wholely owned by the charter Holder the gift should go through the co name.troups sould have no fed tax id number

      Last year they withheld exact numbers until the national meeting to add more spice to the convention? Do you think that could be the case again this year?

      There are so many competing claims about the settlement fund and what's in it, and what is supposed to be in it. Based on my research the settlement fund amount was agreed upon at 2.46 billion dollars; there is no legal claim to anything higher. 1 billion of that is funded and in place. The remaining 1.46 billion is locked up in various stages which include: Amounts that are not available due to asset liquidation being stalled due to issues outside of the control of the settlement court. Amounts that are not available due to cooperating insurance companies needing more time to liquidate assets to fund. Amounts that are not available because some insurance companies are refusing to pay out until all appeals are settled.   Not to be insensitive but where is the larger pot of gold that people seem to speak of?

      I tried to not say more, but the bill makes an effort to stop the lawyers from milking things.  That is important, as it makes the whole process far more difficult for all concerned.  The emotional insults were expected though, as ruined lives will always have pain, though putting that pain on others with no logic is  sad, thus the sad emoticon.  As far as my personal pain from a long life, it is nobody's business and I choose not to blame those not involved directly, nor to expand my scarring onto others if I can avoid it.
