Oh, we wear our pink pajamas in the Summer when it's hot,

And we wear our woolen undies in the Winter when it's not,

And sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in the Fall,

We jump right in between the sheets with nothing on at all.

Oh, that's the way we do in Utah, Arizona and Nevada,

California and Hawaii, our western Region Twelve !

Please tell me this is not our official regional song. Otherwise I might have to move back East. 😉

Hearken world, and listen up! There is no such word as "Webelo." If your son is an older Cub Scout, he is NOT a "Webelo!"

The singular of Webelos Scout is ... WEBELOS SCOUT!  That's it! Please take the extra half second and get it right! Thank you for indulging my little pet peeve!

Did I mention my obnoxious OCD?  :D

It IS the official Region XII song.

For you young folk, the twelve regions were reduced to six in 1972, and then four in 1992.

It's quite a common camp fire song this side of the pond, albeit a variation (night dress in summer and pink pyjamas in winter). Always loved that one :)

Not wholly original, I am sure, and many variations:

[quote]I wake up in the morning with the sheet above my head,

And my little footsie-wotisies are a' stickn' out of bed,
And three times out of four I end up on the floor,
And I'll swear I won't be drinking RC cola any more.

Glory, glory, Hallelujah;
Glory, glory, What's it to you?
Balmy breezes blowing through ya,
With nothing on at all.

Ah okay, so this is an old song then. I was wondering why I hadn't heard of the "12 districts." I put on my first Cub Scout uniform ... in 1992. So by then "Region XII" was long gone.

Wow this make me feel young, lol.

Twelve regions, not twelve districts.   The twelve districts were in Cleveland.  :D

I remember the last line as "Out West in Region 12".  Still sing it just for fun for the boys, who think I am crazy in most cases.  Have also been told that it was banned because it has a "suggestive" line in it.  Not that I really care about that foolishness.  We used to have alot of really silly ditties when I was a Scout in the 50's.

I wish I was a little striped skunk, striped skunk

repeat

I'd climb up in the trees

and perfume all the leaves,

Oh, I wish I was a little striped skunk.

I wish I was a little bottle of pop,

repeat.

I'd go down with a burp

and come up with a slurp

Oh I wish I was a little bottle of pop.

(Included sound effects of course.)

Other similar variants, some which today would be likely banned as suggestive too.

We old people must have been really awful, rude kids.

All I can offer is that were were not singing about how "they" do it "out west."  We were singing about how "we do" in "our Western Region Twelve."  I had to (nervously) lead 6,000 scouts in the song in 1960, so I am reasonably sure what we sang, correct in some cosmic sense or not.

Twelve regions, not twelve districts. The twelve districts were in Cleveland. :D

LOL oops! How remiss of me to write that wrong; I meant regions of course. But still I appreciate the information; I hadn't known how many there once were. And I am surprised by how few there are today; from 12 to 6 to 4 ... Is that a reflection of shrinking numbers or a more streamlined administration system?

I wouldn't mind leading a crowd of boys in song if it was something halfway respectable, but if I had to lead this particular diddy I would be nervous too! As well as slightly embarrassed, since one would think a region with as many great places as Region XII had would have a much cooler song than that.

Think like a kid in appraising music for kids. Better yet, let the kids decide.  They did.

This thread reinforces my belief that today's youth aren't going anywhere in any type of basket any more than previous generations. Thanks Tahawk ☺
