ssgjbroyles 10
Our committee chair just passed over the weekend and I am putting together a memorial service for Scouters and Scouts in our Pack. How do I find out what awards that she may be eligible to receive that can be posthumously awarded?
qwazse 4333
Sorry for your loss. Is this a person who could have been awarded some knots, but never really bothered? You could probably talk to your DE about that. Your DE may also suggest, if your people want to take up a collection, awarding a James E West fellowship in her name. Although, also consider that if she wasn't much for awards while alive, posthumous awards might not have that much meaning. What about pack-life did she enjoy the most? For, example, if it was pinewood derbies, name the track in her honor. If it was a song or skit, teach the scouts to perform it in her honor.
Stosh 3452
My sympathies for your loss. Memorializing the derby track. Having a overall trophy winner for the Derby i.e. Super Bowl's Lombardi Trophy, or Hockey's Stanley Cup type of thing.
David CO 1783
When I die, I would like them to give awards to all the people who put up with me over the years.
SSScout 1608
Ditto the previous posts, ssgjbroyles. Was she a "uniform" person? If so, the posthumous award might be appropriate. Otherwise I like the idea of naming a Scout award for her memory or the PWD track/event. Maybe creating an ongoing scholarship in her name for Woodbadge?
