Cost: $300-900 depending on trek (does not include transportation) . Two adult leaders provided by Philmont. One scouter I know found a hike in the woods that he took at 5:30 every AM before going to work. An extra couple of miles (and a couple hundred feet elevation change) every day for a year in advance help him shed quite a few pounds and prepared him for the big hills.
