Here Is New Fun One To Cheer Us All Up From Texas Via Fb

The best part of Stewert for me has always been the Fox outtakes.  Then his general skewing of our various government agencies and so called elected representatives.  The guy that has taken Colbert's spot has been pretty good a couple of times.  We will see.

I'm pretty sure you mean "skewering", not "skewing". And Jon Stewart does do a lot of skewering.

Colbert was replaced by Larry Wilmore, who was pretty funny/insightful for a few minutes at a time once a week or so as one of Stewart's commentators, but for a half hour every night as the main guy, I don't think he's "got it". (Then again I also liked Colbert on the Daily Show a lot more than on his own show.)

What was this thread about again?

But it was so much fun watching many of our Forum Fellows froth themselves over nothing:   Gonna be a fun election season. Will it be Hillary Handout or Baltimore O'Malley? Or a 'yet to be conjur

Blaming it on NPR is simply silly. First, this story has been around from earlier in the week before NPR even talked about it. Second, Todd Smith wrote his letter on Monday April 30th, days before the

Thanks; I of course did mean skewering.  Have not figured out how to edit anything here yet.  Misspelled a word in comment about a scout golf contest back in the thirties on the history forum.  Said gold instead of golf; but few notice that one anyway.

This supposedly is about crazies in Texas, though there are lots other places too.

True, but no one capitalizes on wretchedness as well as the South does.

I would say some in Detroit, Cleveland, and other "urban centers" outside the South, capitalized, and capitalize, on wretchedness quite well.

Poor Lewis, I miss him. He sure capitalized on it nicely too. Delta used to be my favorite airline - contract carrier for my agency...flew it often. But I won't be leaving. I revel in wretchedness and the South is great for that! I can step off the plane in third world countries and feel right at home! Visit the squalid enclaves in a 5 or 10 mile radius from my home and I could just as well be on another continent. Minimum cultural adjustment needed. I love it here!

Edit: yes but Detroit is a town. I'm talking about whole counties, major portions of states.

Pack, in the words of Lewis Grizzard: "Delta is ready when you are!"

That's not fair, JoeBob!  :(

I left the South to go to school in Yankee territory but not to get away from anything or anyone.  Let's stay on topic and try to keep this related to Scouting in some way?  Is that possible?  Does this thread have anything to do with Scouting?

Lewis can handle this topic: Here Is New Fun One To Cheer Us All Up From Texas

"Shoot low boys; they're riding Shetland Ponies!"

LeCastor, you're just jealous that you don't have '0 warning points' under your profile.  Let's them know that you have the potential to be a crazy!

A "town"?  More a symbol for a state.  Check out the wonderfulness of Flint or Lansing.  50% child poverty is only a memory - in the worst way..

But for poverty, you cannot beat the deep South - especially if you include the D of C..  The unofficial motto of the Kentucky schools thirty years ago was "Thank God for Arkansas" as they were 49 and 50.   Now both states have escaped the "Bottom Five and DC."   Mississippi's motto must be "Thank God for DC."

I suggest we make "Issues and Politics" reflect issues and politics that have at least something to do with Scouting.  Moving forward, I hope to see these topics be a little more geared toward making Scouters more effective in their units.

Well, I can speak authoritatively on behalf at least some of the crazies, lol. As I remember this forum was created to take all the nonsense OUT of the other forums. It was a place where those of us who enjoy ranting about stuff can 'stand over in the corner', so-to-speak. The problem is, it turns out, there are a lot of us who ENJOY standing in the corner, LOL...born and bred in the briar patch....and just as rough as a dried out, reused cob.
