adding SM minutes

I the past we have not had a SM minute. I'm thinking of add them.

Any ideas about easing them in?

 

I've printed out some of the short ones I liked and have been slipping them into the boys books after a SM conference. Kind of like a fortune cookie. The boys now look to see which one they got.

If at all possible please do it. Just a short inspirational thought or how every day life interacts with the Scout Law or even a short good hearted story...keep it short let the boys go home thinking

The Troop Program Resources Book has a section with about 50 Scoutmaster Minutes. A lot of them are very good.

It has been a while.

I held to the idea that I (As a Scoutmaster)didn't have a lot to do at the Troop Meeting. So this was my minute.

It was a very important part of the meeting. Also a part of every meeting.

I'm not sure about "Easing them in."

Try the Nike method! - Just do it.

I'm with Eamonn. here are a few tips I find helpfull. Turn the lights off or way down. have the scouts sit down on the floor. i like to have a single candle for them to focus on and to st a quiet mood. take your time talking. Impostant thoughts should not be rushed. Make it a personal story about you if possible. props can help them remember the story. Practice before you do it.
