Ever been a registrar?

Hi all...
I've volunteered to be a registrar for a merit badge camporee in the spring.
So far I have used Filemaker Pro to make up lists for registrants and
instructors which can break out by badge, registrant, troop, or instructor
name and show whether a badge was completed or "partialled". I'm going to
recommend that we have the kids register for MB classes one month before the
event (paid registration), and that each kid be responsible for bringing an
appropriate SIGNED blue card from his SM to check in for each MB he plans to
work on. Also that if there are prerequisites or requirements that can't be
done in a weekend then either the kid brings proof of them having been done
(like the 90-day log for Pers Mgmt, the home first aid kit for YOUR house, or
the four-day observation for astronomy, for example) or understand that a
partial is all they can get.
I'm waiting for the organizers to decide how many/which MB's will be offered
over this 3 1/2 day weekend, and then I can make up registration forms and let
ters to go out to the SM's in the council, and finalize the class list so
when registrations come it I can just plug 'em in.
I plan to bring my laptop and printer to camp for the weekend and to give the
departing SM's a printout of what their kids did. I'll even do a mockup of
the infamous "green sheet" to go to council for each troop, if I can get to
it, for any completions. (We do NOT intend this to be a MB "factory", but a
chance for kids to be exposed to new stuff they might not get at home)
So far, so good, eh?? SO why am I writing? Well... if anyone has experience
in these matters and sees a glaring fault or omission, I am very eager to
hear it. I'm gonna post this to my friends at Scouts-L and ScoutsNewEngland.
Please give me the benefit of yr experience!!
Does this sound like a ticket item?? You bet...
