Our troop sells Easter flowers (spring? it snowed last year). The scouts
have 2 weeks to do Pre-sales door to door. They have an order sheet and
take orders. Then on the Thursday afternoon before Easter we get the
delivery for the orders plus a bunch more. The pre-orders are delivered
and paid for. Then stands are put up in about 4 to 5 different locations
around our (small) town were flowers are sold Friday and Saturday.
The scouts and parents work very hard at this and we are very visible
during that time. A lot of people in town get their flowers from us every
year. We are thinking of starting a new service next year for senior
citizens and also plant them for them if they cannot do it themselves.
The money goes to the boy's individual accounts from pre-sales and time
working on the stands. A small percentage is taken off the top for the
troop to maintain equipment . Some boys make as little as $50 and some
make as much as $500, depending on how much they sell.
